The National Non-Resident Visitor's Health Insurance (NNRVHI) Policy, formulated by the Ministry of Health, is a directive for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to implement Section 2(b) of the National Heath Insurance Act, 2012 (Act 852). This policy aims to achieve universal health insurance coverage, specifically for the "persons not resident in the country but who are on a visit to this country". It ensures access to healthcare services for individuals under this scheme.

The NNRVHI Policy is applicable to al non-resident visitors. Certain individuals may be exempt as determined by the Government of Ghana.

Visitors can acquire this insurance through an NHIA-approved online platform prior to their travel to Ghana.

In such cases, the insurance must be purchased at the airport upon arrival. The Ghana Immigration Service mandates this purchase for entry into Ghana.

Yes, all non-resident visitors must subscribe to the NNRVHI as mandatory entry requirement, regardless of tehir private insurance status.

Insurance premiums will be determined and approved by the NHIA, in consultation with stakeholders relevant to the successful implementation of NNRVHIP.
